Bristol Bowmen and
Golden Phoenix Archers

After completing the beginners' course, everyone must, if they wish to continue shooting, join the club.

In line with the sport's governing body, Archery GB (also known as the Grand National Archery Society (GNAS)), membership runs from 1 October to 30 September each year. The fees reduce throughout the year, so when you join determines how much you will pay.

2017 to 2018

Membership fees are made up of four parts: Governing body (Archery GB: AGB); Region (Grand Western: GWAS); County (Gloucestershire: GAS) and club. While the first three vary depending on age and whether or not the person is disabled, the club fee is determined by age alone. For details of the club element of the fees, please see the Associate membership section, below.

Archery GB, GWAS and GAS only reduce their fees once throughout the year; on 1 April. We reduce our club fees on a quarterly basis.

As from 1 October 2017 GAS has removed its en bloc junior fee, so instead of paying a proportion of this fee, all non-disabled juniors now pay an individual fee. There is no county charge for disabled juniors.

Membership of Golden Phoenix Archers is only open to disabled people and while we would encourage all disabled people to join this club, there may be times when they wish to join Bristol Bowmen, for example where a family joins but only one member is disabled. It is for that reason that the table below is split by age and disability, rather than club name.

Oct to Dec Jan to Mar Apr to Jun Jul to Sep

Adults 25 and over: non-disabled 146.00 125.00 73.00 52.00
Adults 25 and over: disabled 95.00 74.00 47.50 26.50
Adults 18 to 24: non-disabled 83.00 67.25 41.50 25.75
Adults 18 to 24: disabled 74.00 58.25 37.00 21.25
Juniors (Under 18): non-disabled 56.00 45.50 28.00 17.50
Juniors (Under 18): disabled 53.00 42.50 26.50 16.00
Family discount At least one adult and one child from the same family – 5.00 reduction in the Junior fee.

Please note 1: If you renew late, regardless of how late, you will still be required to pay the full year's fees.

For members renewing as of 1 October each year, payment may be split over four consecutive months:

  • Adults 25 and over: non-disabled – one x 83.00 (to cover outgoing fees), then three x 21.00.
  • Adults 25 and over: disabled – one x 32.00 (to cover outgoing fees), then three x 21.00.
  • Adults 18 to 24: non-disabled – one x 45.75 (to cover outgoing fees), then three x 15.75.
  • Adults 18 to 24: disabled – one x 26.75 (to cover outgoing fees), then three x 15.75.
  • Juniors: non-disabled – one x 24.50 (to cover outgoing fees), then three x 10.50.
  • Juniors: disabled – one x 21.50 (to cover outgoing fees), then three x 10.50.

Please note 2: If you choose to pay by monthly instalments and then miss a payment you risk having your membership suspended until all the outstanding monies are paid. In addition if you renew the following year, you will not be allowed to pay by instalments.

You may pay by bank transfer. For details contact the treasurer, Terry Ladd, via email treasurer@bristolanddisabledarchers.org.uk.

You may shoot as often as you like outdoors and at our winter weekly indoor sessions at no extra cost. See the club days page for days and times when we shoot.

To become an associate member you must hold full GNAS/Archery GB or FITA membership through another club or be a direct member. The first time you shoot with us you must bring your GNAS/Archery GB membership card, or if you live abroad, your governing body's membership card, with you. For insurance reasons we cannot let you shoot without it. Please note for those shooting with a governing body card other than GNAS/Archery GB: it is unlikely that you will have insurance cover should you need it. Please check before hand, or arrange your own insurance cover. In addition to your membership card we will need proof that you have insurance cover.

We offer three types of associate membership:

Annual associate membership

For anyone who wishes to join us with the intention of shooting with us regularly. This gives you full and equal rights within the club including, should you so wish, to stand for committee positions.

You may shoot as often as you like, both outdoors and indoors, at no extra cost. For details of our shooting times please see the Club days page.

Please note for those shooting with a governing body card other than GNAS/Archery GB: it is unlikely that you will have insurance cover should you need it. Please check before hand, or arrange your own insurance cover. In addition to your membership card we will need proof that you have insurance cover.

If you will be in the area for four weeks or more, you may find that it is more cost effective to take up monthly associate membership (see above).
