Golden Phoenix Archers

24 September was the date for the annual championship. The weather was cool but pleasant enough.

The rounds shot were – National for the experienced adults; Short Junior National for the beginner adults; Short National for the one Junior Gent present. For a change, the entire competition was head-to-head rather than a handicapped shoot.

The results were:

Gent's recurve: 1 – Clive Wilkins; 2 – Pete Moore; 3 – Ian Lassman; 4 – Andy Friend; 5 – Paul Kobbe; 6 – Mike Townsend.

Gent's compound: 1 – Harvey Abrams.

Gent's beginner's recurve: 1 – Lance Whitelegg.

Ladies recurve: 1 – Sheena McCullagh.

Ladies beginner's recurve: 1 – Marian Whitelegg.

Sheena and Andy at Exmouth.

On the 9 June Sheena McCullagh and Andy Friend entered the Exmouth Archers overnight fancy dress Lunartic shoot. Sheena did better than she did in 2004. This time she was only next to last. However, she did win the fancy dress competition (see photo). She swears blind that it was the feet that did it. Yes, they are a pair of washing up gloves.
